Terms of Service

1. The Service

Ontoolbox provides browser-based tools to compress images (JPG, PNG, WebP) and videos (MP4, MOV, WebM). Image compression runs in your browser where applicable; video compression may require upload and server-side processing.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and comply with these Terms and all applicable laws. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that is illegal, infringing, harmful, deceptive, or violates others’ rights.
• Upload malware or attempt to disrupt, probe, or overload the Service.
• Circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or security measures.
• Use the Service for unlawful surveillance or to process data you are not authorized to handle.
• Scrape or automate access in a way that burdens our infrastructure without permission.

We may refuse processing, remove content, or restrict access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or others.

4. Free service and usage limits

Phase 1 of the Service is free and does not require an account. We apply reasonable limits, including per-file size caps (images up to 20 MB, videos up to 100 MB) and daily usage quotas. Limits may change to keep the Service fair and stable.

If we introduce paid features in the future, we will update these Terms and present applicable pricing before you are charged.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of files you upload. You grant us a limited, temporary license to host, process, and transmit your files solely to provide compression and related operations (e.g. generating a download link).

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to upload and compress your content and for keeping backups of important files.

6. Intellectual property

The Ontoolbox name, branding, website, and software (excluding your uploaded content) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Service except as permitted by law.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information, including temporary storage and deletion of uploaded files. By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Compression results depend on your source files, settings, and codecs. We do not guarantee a specific file size, quality level, or compatibility with every platform.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ONTOOLBOX AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (TYPICALLY ZERO FOR THE FREE SERVICE) OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ontoolbox and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive termination.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

Disputes should first be raised with us at [email protected]. Where permitted by law, courts in Singapore shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
